  • Ranks fifth in the all-time Yankee list (500 games or more) with a .322 carer batting average. He trails only hall-of-famer Babe Ruth (.349), Lou Gehrig (.340), Earle Combs (.325), and Joe DiMaggio (.325)

It is only the third time since 1900 that teammmates have each scored 100 or more runs for at least five consecutive seasons. The Yankees' Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Earle Combs each did it for seven straight years from 1926-32 and Cincinnati's Joe Morgan and Pete Rose did it five straight timesfrom 1972-76.
  • In 21 games from the lead-off position, he reached base 54 times in 104 plate appearances and batted .402 with 21R, 10RBI, 17BB, and 3HP
  • Has scored at least 100 runs in each of his five first seasons in the Majors (starting with his rookie season). He is the first player to do that since Johnny Pesky scored 100R in his first six seasons (1942-50, interrupted by World War II)

  • Was selected to his third all-star game by manager Joe Torre. He was named MVP of the 71st All-Star game in Atlanta, becoming the first player in Yankee history to be named MVP of the All-Star game
  • Had his season high 13 game hitting streak (7/9-25) snapped and was 0-for-3 with 1BB in 7/26 win at Baltimore
  • His streak of at least one walk in 10 consecutive games was snapped in 8/24 win vs. Texas. It was the longest such streak by a Yankee since Jessie Barfield also walked in 10 straight games from 8/9-19/90
  • Raised career batting average to .320 for the first time
  • Reached base safely in 41 straight games from 8/6-9/18. It was the longest such streak by a Yankee since Jeter himself reached base safely in 53 straight games in 1999. It was the fourth longest on the season in the Majors (behind LA's Shawn Green, 53, San Diego's Phil Nevin, 49, and Cleveland's Manny Ramirez, 49)
  • Tied a career high with 4 hits (14th time) and was 4-for-5 in 9/22 loss vs. Detroit
  • Hit 3 run HR in 6th inning, tied a career high (15th time) with four hits for a second consecutive game and was 4-for-5 with 3R and 4RBI in 9/23 win vs. Detroit
  • Reached the 1000 hit plateau with a fifth inning single and was 3-for-4 with 1RBI in 9/25 loss vs. Detroit. At 26 he became the second youngest Yankee to accomplish the feat (behind only Mickey Mantle who was 25 when he accomplished the feat in 1957).
